Kónguló is the solo project of Herdís Stefánsdóttir, an accomplished Icelandic composer and producer who has made a name for herself in the film and television industry. She was formerly part of the electro pop duo East of My Youth before embarking on her own musical journey.
The name Kónguló, which means spider in Icelandic, is a fitting moniker for an artist whose music is as intricate and mesmerizing as a spider’s web. Herdís’s first single, “Be Human,” featuring Icelandic artist neonme (Salka Valsdóttir), showcases her talent for blending electronic beats with haunting vocals and poetic lyrics.
Herdís has worked as a composer and producer for years, and her recent work includes the Apple+ series The Essex Serpent, the Hulu series Y the Last Man, and M. Night Shyamalan’s Knock at The Cabin. Her work on these projects has earned her multiple Icelandic Music Awards, cementing her status as one of Iceland’s most exciting musical talents.
