JJ Paulo was born in Tanzania and raised in Denmark. Paulo has spent his life cultivating Tanzanian traditional Sukuma culture and today he is proud that his music reflects exactly that. His concerts are often described as “a kiss of African culture”. His musical expression and showmanship on stage were of such an international quality that acclaimed BBC radio presenter Rafaela Coleman said: “JJ, you are an absolute star and when you blow up do not forget about us”.
JJ Paulo releases his third EP “JORAM” to critical acclaim from BBC Radio, MTV Africa and KEXP among others. Paulo have performed at festivals such as Roskilde Festival, Eurosonic and Spot festival among others.
In October 2022, Paulo performed his biggest headlining show to date, selling more than 1,300 tickets at Store Vega in Copenhagen, capping off a fantastic year with a bang. African music has gained worldwide popularity and it is only a matter of time before JJ Paulo does the same.
