The Icelandic Kári Egilsson, born March 14th 2002, is a young but talented recording artist, singer/songwriter, and pianist. He released his eagerly awaited debut album ‘Palm Trees in the Snow” in March.
Kári’s great musical talent became obvious when he started studying the piano when he was seven years old. He started in classical music, but branched out to jazz piano and improvisation by the age of ten. He began writing his own music and—despite his formal training—soon developed an interest in pop music, showing an uncanny sense of melody.
In 2018 at only sixteen years old, Kári won the ASCAP Desmond Child Anthem Award that is given out to promising songwriters. He graduated in both classical music and jazz piano from the Reykjavík College of Music in 2022. Kári has also been a student of the renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA.
Though his debut album is only just released, Kári already finished a jazz album and is currently working on his second pop-album.
